'Messiah in the Map' by Terry Quick
Here we go
my fingers in between
the pages again
skipping from town to town
in search of an awaiting miracle
maybe the atlas is an atheist
as I lose myself in miles
waiting for the call
to arrive at a standstill
the map as my Bible
the states my saints
my faith greater than truth
that it's out there elsewhere
just beyond the turnstile
the white light of a subway
mistaken for the holy grail
as I stand here
drunk on holy water
this is just like any other place
no grace
